Relax in the solitude of Clark Lake in Nisswa, MN

Experience an Up North vacation just a couple hours north of the Cities in our lake house retreat

New Fire Pit and Paver Patio

In late July of 2014, we had a custom fire pit installed in the back yard to help enjoy your Northwoods fires at night in style and comfort. While a fire in the evening is always enjoyed with Up North vacations, we knew it could be improved upon from our previous setup. Not only does the new paver patio and stone fire pit look better, it’s much more comfortable, cleaner and safer for your our guests.

So if you come visit us in the future, we’re sure you’ll want to make an evening fire in the backyard overlooking the lake a staple of your daily itinerary. We have enjoyed the improvement, and we hope you’ll enjoy it as well and make it a centerpiece of your activities as you enjoy the lakefront. Here are a few photos of the installation process from this past summer! Click on a photo to open the gallery to cycle through them all.

October Sunset on Clark Lake, MN

As the 2014 open water season is coming to a close, we captured these beautiful sunset photos from the dock in early October. Almost a perfect mirror image in the still of the glass calm water. No matter the season, the Northwoods never disappoints. We hope you enjoyed the summer and come visit us again.

Nisswa Lake House – Perfect Family Vacation

Hi Sherry,

What a wonderful time we had at your lake home last week. The accommodations were as advertised. The space was perfect as our family gathered from Detroit, MN and NE to enjoy the beauty of Clark Lake and the surrounding area. We took in the turtle races! The grandkids thought it was hilarious. Thanks for allowing us the pleasure, convenience and comforts of your place.

Clark Lake Home Improvements

Clark Lake Home Improvements - Tile work and new carpet on stairsFinding a time to make home improvements to the house while not disturbing any of our guests can be tricky. But we took advantage of a couple weeks in March that were slower to change out the carpet area in the basement in front of the walk-out entry way and replace it with ceramic tile. As the stairway to the basement and out the back sliding doors to the back yard is a main traffic area, it made more sense to change this to tile in order to withstand the foot traffic better.

This project has been on our list from the day we bought the house, but we had to wait for a time when we had a couple weeks open in the rental schedule to get it done. If you’ve stayed at the house in the past, or if you will be in the future, we hope you will enjoy this improvement. The carpet on the stairs was getting pretty dirty, and so we’ve changed this out to give a cleaner look.

Many thanks to Troy and his handiwork for completing the tile in the basement and new carpet on the stairs.

About the same time, we mounted the 60″ flat panel television in the basement to the wall on an articulating mount for more versatility and a cleaner setup which adds more room to the family area.

Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Warm, Cozy and Comfy Weekend Away

Jeff & Sherry –

We enjoyed our family vacation this weekend in your beautiful house on Clark Lake!! Even though it was very cold outside along with some freezing drizzle on Friday night we enjoyed our family time at your house. We loved your house. It was very comfortable, warm, cozy and everything that we had ever imagined for our long weekend away. I was amazed with the view of the lake from the living room. In fact one morning there were 3 deer on the ice just below the house. We would love to come back in the future. Again thank you very much for opening up your beautiful home to our family.

Happy New Year from Clark Lake

Winter Deck View of Clark LakeWe were able to break away for a few nights and ring in the new year from our house on Clark Lake. While it was a frigid -20 degrees outside, we were toasty warm by the fireplace. We rang in the new year with some dear friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the comforts of the home. We ventured out to Ivan’s on the Bay on Round Lake for dinner on New Year’s Eve.

We’re planning some updates that will include some tile work in the basement, some new artwork, lights for the dock as soon as the docks go back in this spring, and more. While we were just there last week, we added a second television. We moved the 47″ flat panel TV from the basement to the great room and mounted to the wall, and we added a 60″ LED flat panel TV to the basement family room for your enjoyment in 2014 and beyond.

We’re looking forward to the new year, and making continued enhancements to the home. We thank you for your continued interest in visiting our home, and creating new memories on Clark Lake in the future. We wish you all a wonderful and blessed new year.
